VEHICLE PURSUIT HIGHWAY 77
On Sunday 6/2/2024 at approximately 11:30pm, a Deputy with the Lee County Sheriff's Office was patrolling US Highway 77 north of Lincoln, when he observed a sedan traveling northbound at a high rate of speed.
The Deputy activated the emergency red/blue lights and siren signaling the driver of the speeding vehicle to stop. The driver failed to yield to the Deputy and accelerated up to speeds of 125 miles per hour.
A pursuit ensued through Lexington, and into Milam County, where a Rockdale Police Officer joined. The driver of the vehicle crashed in a curve on US Highway 77 in Milam County.
The Lee County Deputy and Rockdale Police Officer located the driver and summoned fire/rescue and emergency medical services. The suspect was transported to a facility for medical treatment. The Lee County Sheriff's Office has pending criminal charges on the suspect.
The Milam County Sheriff's Office and a Lee County Highway Patrol Trooper assisted at the scene.
It is the policy of the Lee County Sheriff's Office not to release the name of the suspect until warrants are executed
