April 24 - April 30, 2023

 

 April 24, 2023

02:11 - Deputy Dickerson and Deputy Dudley assisted Giddings PD with a traffic stop near Fun Town RV on Hwy 290.

07:02 - Deputy J. Hilmo checked out with a disabled motorist on Hwy 77 at the West Yegua Bridge. The motorist was not feeling well.

08:36 - Deputy J. Hilmo checked out with a disabled motorist on Hwy 77 at CR 327. The driver pulled over to make a phone call.

11:03 - A complainant called the Sheriff's Office requesting to speak with a deputy. Deputy Crenshaw made contact with the complainant and information was taken. No report at this time.

12:01 - Sgt. West and Deputy Crenshaw responded to an animal complainant on Hwy 290 Easts. The caller advised that he had a stray dog show up on his property and wanted it removed. Sgt. West escorted the caller to the Giddings Animal Shelter.

12:52 - Giddings PD requested Deputy J. Hilmo for translation at Whataburger in Giddings. Deputy J. Hilmo responded and translated without further incident.

13:50 - A resident on CR 326 in Lexington reported that someone had taken her two mailboxes and pulled up the stake out of the ground. Deputy Crenshaw met with the resident, and a report was taken.

17:52 - Deputy Haman spoke with a complainant on CR 309 in reference to theft. After taking information from the complainant, it was determined it was a civil issue between husband and wife.

19:11 - A motorist reported of a piece of metal in the roadway on Hwy 290 West near Altman Plants. Deputy Haman responded and cleared the roadway of the debris.

19:35 - Dispatch received multiple calls about a cow out on CR 317 near FM 112. Deputy J. Brown responded and advised the owner was on scene. The cow was secured off the roadway.

20:19 - Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman and EMS were dispatched to CR 219 for a possible overdose. The subject was transported to the hospital by EMS, and a report was taken.

20:35 - Deputy J. Brown checked out with a suspicious vehicle on FM 696 West. The vehicle was secured and unoccupied.

23:25 - Alarm Connections called requesting a welfare check at the Lexington Food Mart. Deputy J. Brown responded and found everything to be secured.

 

April 25, 2023

01:32 - Simply Safe advised of a residential alarm at an address on CR 322. Sgt. Strouth and Deputy Haman responded and found the house to be secure.

03:48 - Dispatch received a 911 call from a number that pinged at the tower location on CR 139 near Hwy 290 East. The caller sounded like they were possibly in distress in the initial call before it was disconnected. Sgt. Strouth and Deputy Haman checked the area but could not locate anyone in distress.

08:52 - Capt. Mastronardi, Lt. Adams, Sgt. Jones, Sgt. West, Deputy Webber, Deputy Crenshaw, Deputy J. Hilmo and Trooper Pennartz checked out on PR 8027 in Dime Box for a warrant service. The wanted subject was detained and transported to the Lee County Jail for booking.

09:49 - A caller on FM 141 reported that a calf was on her property that did not belong to her. Deputy J. Hilmo responded and was not able to locate an owner. A follow up will be conducted.

11:11 - Pct. 1 Commissioner advised of some stolen signs and damage on CR 117. Sgt. West responded and advised he will get in contact with the commissioner later in the day for more information.

13:12 - Deputy J. Hilmo was out at an address on CR 323 in Lexington for a case follow up. Information was taken.

14:53 - A motorist reported a calf in the middle of the road at the intersection of CR 119 and FM 141. Sgt. West responded and checked the area but was unable to locate the calf.

14:59 - Deputy Webber was dispatched to CR 104 near CR 103 for a suspicious vehicle. The caller stated that a Chevrolet Silverado was on the side of the road, and a male and female were walking along the fence line. The area was checked but the vehicle and persons were no longer in the area.

16:39 - Dispatch received a call about a herd of calves out on FM 141 at CR 121. Deputy Crenshaw responded and advised the owner was on scene. The cows were secured off the roadway.

19:29 - Deputy J. Brown advised he was flagged down by a motorist saying that there was a loose calf on the roadway on FM 141. The deputy located the calf near CR 119. The calf was secured off the roadway.

20:31 - Deputy Haman and Trooper McCoy responded to a call about a one vehicle accident on Hwy 77 near CR 135. The caller stated that a red car hydroplaned into the southbound side of the road. A second caller advised she was driving home when she saw the car and it appeared to be drivable. Units were unable to locate the vehicle.

 

April 26, 2023

02:57 - Deputy Haman advised she was out with Giddings PD at a store on East Austin Street with a suspicious person in the parking lot. Contact was made with the two male subjects, and everything was okay.

08:52 - Lexington Officer Reyna advised she was responding to a vehicle vs deer accident on Hwy 77 just north of Lexington. No injuries were reported, and the vehicle was off the roadway. Cpl. Ellington and Deputy Eickenhorst responded to the accident.

09:26 - Cpl. Ellington and Deputy Eickenhorst assisted Lexington Chief Garza and Constable Stephens with a suspicious person call at an address on Main Street. The caller stated that someone was trying to open her garage door. The area was checked but no one was found.

10:44 - A complainant came to the Sheriff's Office to report that she was assaulted by her landlord. Deputy Kocurek met with the complainant, and information was taken for a report.

14:19 - Lt. Adams met with a property owner in regard to an eviction notice she served her tenant at an address on Hwy 290 West. She was referred to the JP for the proper eviction process.

16:32 - A resident on CR 418 in Lexington reported that someone broke into her shed and stole a Bobcat skid steer. Cpl. Ellington and Deputy Eickenhorst met with the resident, and a report was taken.

19:14 - A motorist reported a black angus steer out near the Fedor VFD on FM 1624 and PR 8017. Deputy E. Hilmo was enroute when a second caller advised that he helped the owner get the steer back inside the fence.

20:00 - Dispatch received a 911 open line call from an address on Kay Street in Giddings. Deputy Dudley and Deputy E. Hilmo responded and made contact with an individual, who advised it was an accidental call.

20:17 - Sgt. Holloway and Deputy E. Hilmo were dispatched to CR 418 to meet with the resident that previously reported her skid steer stolen. She stated that she had more information. The deputies took the information for a supplemental report.

21:11 - A caller reported about 10-20 head of cattle on the roadway on FM 112 about 2-3 miles past the intersection of FM 696 West. Sgt. Holloway and Deputy E. Hilmo responded and checked the area but could not locate any loose livestock.

23:24 - Giddings PD requested Deputy E. Hilmo to assist with translation at an address in the 1100 block of East Austin Street. Sgt. Holloway and Deputy E. Hilmo assisted with the call.

23:38 - Dispatch received a 911 open line transfer from Fayette County from an address on CR 219 near PR 7711. Deputy Dudley checked and observed no signs of any suspicious activity.

 

April 27, 2023

06:40 - A property owner on CR 302 stated that he is having a house built and could see someone on the property on his security cameras. Cpl. Ellington and Deputy Eickenhorst met with the property owner and determined nothing was taken. The owner will review the security footage to see if it was a family member or construction workers.

08:19 - A motorist advised that he was traveling westbound on FM 1697 towards Dime Box when another semi-truck heading eastbound clipped his mirror. Both trucks continued their travels and did not stop. The motorist was told by his supervisor to report the incident. An event number was given to the motorist. At 08:31, the driver of the other semi-truck reported the same incident. He was also given the event number for insurance purposes.

10:42 - Deputy Eickenhorst and Deputy Webber met with a complainant at the Sheriff's Office in reference to fraud. The complainant stated that someone was stealing money out of her bank account. Information was taken for a report.

11:45 - Dispatch received a call from a female subject in the 2500 block of FM 696 East. She was screaming and could not be understood. Cpl. Ellington, Deputy Eickenhorst, Constable Stephens and Lexington PD Chief Garza responded to the call along with Lexington VFD and EMS. It was determined that the female was being attacked by a swarm of bees. She was transported to the hospital by EMS.

12:49 - Brinks Security advised of a residential burglar alarm at PR 7707. Deputy Webber and Deputy Kocurek responded and checked the area. There were no signs of entry, and all was secure.

13:43 - Cpl. Ellington and Deputy Eickenhorst were dispatched to Hwy 77 near CR 329 for a cow out. The area was checked, and the roadway was clear.

16:21 - Cpl. Ellington assist Giddings PD with a hit and run accident by locating and stopping the suspected vehicle. Information was gathered for Giddings PD, and the driver was released.

18:09 - A caller reported about nine head of cattle out on CR 103. Deputy E. Hilmo responded and advised he was out with the property owner attempting to put the cattle up. The cattle were secured off the roadway.

18:43 - Deputy E. Hilmo was dispatched to FM 696 East near CR 406 for loose livestock. The caller stated that a white bull was out in the roadway. The deputy was able to remove the bull from the roadway.

20:51 - A grandson requested a welfare check on his grandmother at her residence on CR 116. He stated he hadn't heard from his grandmother in several days. Deputy Dudley responded and made contact with the grandmother. She advised that her phones were disconnected. The grandson was notified of the situation.

20:59 - Deputy E. Hilmo advised he was out on a motorist assist on Hwy 77 near Cefco in Lexington. He assisted the motorist in moving to the parking lot of Cefco.

21:02 - Dispatch received a call about a white bull out on FM 1624 at CR 108. Deputy E. Hilmo located the cow and removed it from the roadway.

 

April 28, 2023

02:28 - Sgt. Holloway, Deputy Dudley and Deputy E. Hilmo assisted Giddings PD with a disturbance between a male and female at an address on Lazy Oaks Lane. Parties were separated.

09:34 - A resident on CR 454 advised that the neighbor's dogs have come onto her property and killed her chickens. Deputy J. Hilmo responded and spoke with the neighbor, who advised she would attempt to keep the dogs off the neighbor's property.

10:10 - Deputy J. Hilmo advised he was out with an abandoned camper trailer on Hwy 21 East near CR 440. The camper had no license plate, and the top was sawed off. An abandoned vehicle notice was placed on the camper.

10:38 - Dispatch received a 911 call from a resident on CR 430 stating that someone was at his house causing problems. Before dispatch could get more information, the call dropped. Contact was made again with the resident, who advised there was no emergency. At 10:51, the resident called back requesting to speak with a deputy. Sgt. West spoke with the resident via phone and was advised the resident's younger brother had pulled a gun on him. The deputy attempted to make contact with the brother but could only leave a voicemail to make contact with the Sheriff's Office. No report at this time.

11:54 - Sgt. West and Deputy J. Hilmo were dispatched to CR 412 to a music festival for threats that a band was receiving. The male subject threatening the band was not on scene. Information was taken for a close patrol.

15:14 - A business on Hwy 290 East reported that equipment had been stolen. Sgt. West met with the complainant, and a report was taken.

15:45 - A caller requested some help with securing some cattle on CR 217 by Rabbs Creek. Deputy Webber responded and assisted the caller with removing the cattle from the roadway.

18:50 - Pct. 1 Commissioner was notified of a tree blocking the roadway on CR 430 near CR 424. The tree was cleared of the roadway.

20:27 - A motorist reported a reckless driver on Hwy 21 West headed eastbound. Deputy J. Brown responded and located a vehicle that matched the description but did not observe any violations.

20:52 - Deputy J. Brown and Trooper McCoy were dispatched to FM 180 near CR 133 for fence damage. The caller was unsure if a vehicle had gone through the fence or not. A possible property owner was located. The fence was temporarily repaired.

21:02 - Sgt. Strouth advised of suspicious activity at a church on Third Street in Lexington. Contact was made with an individual who advised they were just cleaning the church.

21:25 - Dispatch received a report of a reckless driver on Hwy 21 E in Dime Box headed eastbound. No units were in the area. Information was passed along to Burleson County.

 

April 29, 2023

01:43 - A resident on Hwy 77 North requested a deputy to respond to her residence to check the perimeter. Sgt. Strouth and Deputy Haman responded and check the residence inside and out. Everything was secure.

02:00 - Sgt. Strouth checked out with a suspicious vehicle at the Lexington VFD on Seventh Street. Everything was okay.

02:29 - Burleson County transferred a 911 call about a reckless wrong way driver on Hwy 21 in Caldwell traveling westbound. Sgt. Strouth, Deputy Haman and Deputy J. Brown checked Hwy 21 from Hwy 77 to the Burleson County line but were unable to locate the vehicle.

04:15 - A 911 caller from an address on West Brenham Street requested an officer because her ex-boyfriend was violating a protection order. Sgt. Strouth and Deputy J. Brown assisted Giddings PD with the call. The subject did not have an active protection order, and the parties were separated.

08:06 - Dispatch received several 911 calls about a reckless driver traveling eastbound on Hwy 21 in the Dime Box area. Deputy J. Hilmo searched the area but was unable to locate the vehicle.

12:22 - Reserve Deputy Terpstra was dispatched to Hwy 77 north of the Giddings High School for a disabled vehicle. Contact was made with the driver, who advised they were working on the vehicle. The vehicle was safely off the roadway.

13:25 - Phillips and Luckey requested an escort for a funeral from Lexington Methodist Church to the Lexington Cemetery. Sgt. West and Deputy J. Hilmo assisted with the escort.

13:57 - A motorist reported a male subject wearing a camo jacket walking into traffic on Hwy 290 in Ledbetter. Reserve Deputy Terpstra checked the highway from Giddings to the Fayette County line and could not locate the subject.

15:18 - Reserve Deputy Terpstra was dispatched to the intersection of FM 141 and FM 1697 for loose cattle. The area was checked but no loose cattle were located.

16:30 - Dime Box Post Office reported goats out around the 8700 block of FM 141. Sgt. West made contact with the owner who advised he was on his way to secure the goats off the roadway.

17:40 - A caller requested a welfare check on some kids playing by the Middle Yegua Creek bridge on CR 117. Sgt. Strouth checked the area but did not locate anyone.

20:07 - Deputy J. Brown advised he was at an address on CR 349 to meet with a complainant. Due to it being a civil matter, the complainant was referred to the JP.

20:23 - Dispatch received a call about debris in the roadway on Hwy 290 East near CR 139. Deputy Haman checked the area to the Fayette County line but did not locate any debris in the roadway.

20:40 - Sgt. Strouth checked out with a motorist on Hwy 77 near CR 411. Everything was okay, and the vehicle was back on the road.

21:33 - A complainant reported loud music in the Town and Country Mobile Home Park. Deputy Haman responded and located where the loud music was coming from. The subjects were advised to turn down the music.

21:35 - Deputy J. Brown was dispatched to Avenue A in Lexington for a report of loud music in the area. The deputy checked the area and did not hear any loud music. Sgt. Strouth checked by later and was able to locate the residence with the music. They advised they would turn down the music.

23:46 - A resident on Avenue A in Lexington advised the music was loud again. Deputy J. Brown responded listened from the resident's house. No loud music could be heard.

 

April 30, 2023

01:06 - Deputy J. Brown was advised by an employee of a store that there was a possible disturbance between a male and female in a truck. The deputy checked out with the vehicle at East Hempstead and South Madison. Giddings PD also checked out with Deputy J. Brown to assist. The parties were separated.

06:59 - A motorist reported a disabled vehicle on Hwy 21 near CR 440. Deputy J. Hilmo and Trooper Pennartz responded and made contact with the driver. The vehicle was moved to CR 440 while the driver waited on gas.

08:01 - Sgt. West met with a complainant at the Sheriff's Office in reference to a stolen license plate. The complainant stated that the license plate from his utility trailer had been stolen. After collecting some information, it was determined the license plate was lost not stolen. The complainant was advised to go to the Tax Office to report it lost.

09:55 - A resident on CR 117 reported that a stray pit bull looking dog was in her front yard. She stated that it had a collar and either a rope or leash attached to it. Deputy J. Hilmo responded to the call, and advised the dog was really skinny and not aggressive. The deputy reached out to the Giddings Animal Shelter and was able to take the dog to the shelter.

10:00 - Dispatch received a call about some cows out on FM 1624 near CR 108. Sgt. West checked the area but was unable to locate any loose livestock.

11:42 - Sgt. West and Deputy J. Hilmo were dispatched to an address on CR 309 to assist with an animal call. The caller stated that one of his calves was on his neighbor's property and wanted assistance in retrieving it. The deputies were able to assist with getting the calf back on the correct property.

12:50 - A 911 caller reported a reckless driver on Hwy 290 headed west into Giddings. The vehicle was failing to maintain a single lane of traffic and was speeding. No county units were available, and the call was transferred to Giddings PD.

13:02 - Sgt. West and Deputy J. Hilmo assisted with a funeral escort from Lexington Methodist Church to a cemetery on CR 322.

13:09 - A resident on Hwy 21 West requested to speak to a deputy about some of his turkeys that were stolen. Deputy J. Hilmo responded and met with the resident. Information was taken for a report.

14:50 - Sgt. West and Deputy J. Hilmo were dispatched to an address on CR 329 for a welfare concern. The caller stated that he dropped his grandmother off last night and his mother is drunk and yelling and screaming at his grandmother. He advised that his grandmother called him asking for help. The deputies made contact with the grandmother, and she refused medical treatment. Everything was okay in the home.

17:17 - A motorist reported a piece of luggage in the middle of the road on Hwy 77 near CR 412. Deputy Haman checked the area but was unable to locate any debris in the roadway.

17:55 - Deputy Haman checked out with a motorist on Hwy 77 near CR 411. The driver advised they were just making a phone call.

17:58 - Sgt. Strouth checked out with a motorist on Hwy 77 near Hwy 21. Everything was okay, and the driver was advised to move to a safer location off the roadway.

18:27 - Giddings PD asked for assistance with giving a subject a courtesy ride from Bucees. Deputy Haman gave the subject a ride out of the county.

18:34 - A motorist advised that his motorhome had broken down and was blocking the intersection of Hwy 21 at CR 453. Deputy J. Brown responded to the call. The motorhome was moved from the intersection and would be waiting for a tow company.

19:18 - Deputy J. Brown responded to a call about a loud explosion in the area of FM 141 and CR 121. The deputy checked the area as well as multiple oil pads and did not locate anything suspicious.

20:45 - The owner of the motorhome from the previous call requested assistance with traffic control while the tow company picked up his motorhome from Hwy 21 near CR 453. Deputy J. Brown assisted with traffic control.

21:13 - Alarm Connections advised of an alarm at Lexington Food Mart. Deputy J. Brown responded and checked the building. Everything was secure.

21:24 - Sgt. Strouth checked out with a disabled vehicle on Hwy 77 at Hwy 21. The occupants advised the vehicle broke down, and they were waiting on family to pick them up. The vehicle was moved to the Zochnet parking lot. Sgt. Strouth gave the occupants a courtesy ride to Bubbas to wait on family.

23:05 - A caller reported a reckless driver on Hwy 290 East traveling eastbound. No units were available in the area. Information was passed on to Washington County.
