REPORTS OF LEE COUNTY LINKS TO THE NEW YEAR DAY ATTACK IN NEW ORLEANS

The safety and security of our citizens is paramount to the Lee County Sheriff's Office. This press release is being made to address local media reports of Lee County links to the New Orleans New Year Day mass casualty event.

It is my general policy not to comment on another law enforcement agency's investigation, but any information received, no matter how trivial, on an event of this magnitude, is investigated. After having conducted an investigation of this matter, I can report there was never a threat to public safety in our county related to the New Orleans New Year Day mass casualty event.
