LEE COUNTY SHERIFF'S

JUNIOR DEPUTY ACADEMY

The Lee County Sheriff's Junior Deputy Academy is designed for children who have an avid interest in Law Enforcement and are eager to learn more from the deputies who work in their community.

The academy is designed to provide a basic understanding of what deputies do through educational hands-on activities and experiences along with classroom presentations. This program focuses on the Lee County Sheriff's Office core values; Courtesy, Honesty, Integrity, and Purpose; encouraging each participant to continue to practice these values long after they 'graduate' from the program.

The program consists of a full eight-hour day at the Law Enforcement Center. The children will learn about basic first-aid, cyber safety, stranger danger, bully prevention, physical fitness, patrol functions, and mock tactical operations.

A special graduation ceremony will conclude the academy at the sheriff's office for parents to attend to see their Junior Deputy recite their new oath and be sworn-in by Sheriff Durrenberger.

Who can apply to participate?

All 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade youth who live in Lee County are eligible to apply. There will be a limited number of seats available.

How does the selection process work?

Parents can print off a Junior Deputy Academy Application by clicking here or pick one up from the Sheriff's Office. Once the form is completed and submitted, the forms will be reviewed, and you will be contacted to inform you if your child was accepted. At that time, a fee of $30.00 will be due to cover the cost of your child's shirt.
